Aphid | Borers | Fertilization

Birch trees, maple trees, ash, roses, and dozens of other trees should be injected in early spring.

Locust trees, pines, and other trees can be injected in fall.

If you've missed the usual window of injecting, don't worry about it. It's better to have the imidacloprid in the tree as soon as possible, rather than try to get the timing perfect.

We can also inject your trees, roses, and shrubs with a liquid fertilizer, either separately from the insecticide or at the same time.

Perfect For:

  • Bronze birch borer
  • Painted hickory borer
  • Pitch moth (firs, pines)
  • Emerald ash borer
  • Locust borer*
  • Aphid
  • Scale (takes time)

Brochure

We can do this treatment two different times of the year: Late Winter or Late Fall.

That's when rainfall is guaranteed to push the preemergence chemicals into the soil and activate it.

Between May and September, it's generally too hot. The sun breaks down the chemicals before they get a chance to be washed into the top 3" of soil.

Our late winter list is extremely full, but we still have room on our late fall list--call to have your property treated in October-December.

There are three different levels of control you can have--Regular, Heavy Duty, or Quarterly.

Normal-Strength takes care of most weeds for 6-12 months, depending on weather conditions. Kochia, Morningglory, Puncturevine, Russian Thistle, and a few others will come through, but most other weeds and grasses won't.

Heavy-Duty control costs a little more because of the chemicals necessary, but we'll come back and touch up regrowth areas of Kochia, Russian Thistle, and most other weeds and grasses.

Quarterly control is good for industrial sites with lots of traffic and lots of weeds.

Normal-Strength is Perfect For:

  • Areas near gardens that require lighter control measures
  • Areas around saplings and desirable shrubs
  • Parking lots and driveways in town

Heavy-Duty is Perfect For:

  • Driveways and parking lots near fields or vacant lots
  • Around Storage Units
  • Industrial Lots

Quarterly Weed Control is Perfect For:

  • Industrial lots with heavy traffic
  • Parking lots bordering fields with high weed pressure
  • Other areas that require more frequent weed control measures due to soil conditions and/or weather

Anthracnose

Our sycamores are susceptible to anthracnose, a fungal infection that causes leaf death, limb death, and cankers on the trunk and large limbs.

Not a pretty way for our huge, stately trees to die. Depending on the weather, 2-3 treatments with a fungicide in early spring is typically enough to keep the tree disease-free.

We currently treat hundreds of trees around the LC Valley with a specialized machine that can reach the tops of even the tallest trees.

Aside from our treatment, MAKE SURE YOU PICK UP THE SYCAMORE LEAVES that fall in the autumn. This significantly reduces where the fungus can hide and reproduce.

Elm Leaf Beetle

Crawling all over the leaves during late spring are elm leaf beetles and their larvae.

They devour the leaves and can defoliate a tree very quickly, leaving them susceptible to disease and death.

One or two well-timed treatments can mean the difference between stately, shade-producing trees and large stumps in the front yard.

Treatments run between $65 and 300*, depending on the number and height of the trees, and the type of treatment provided.

*This price assumes an emergency spray application--if you inject your trees early, it may cost a little more up front, but will have a longer residual.

Husk Fly | Almond Maggot

Husk Fly

Most people have cracked open a husk that has been "stung" by the husk fly. That mushy, black spot is where eggs were laid and larvae developed. The larvae feed on the husk, causing that nasty, mushy spot on the husk and stains the shell.

Coddling Moth

This pesky moths' larvae infest the actual nut of the tree. If your tree had nuts taht were nasty last year, this is probably a bigger problem to you than the husk fly, and it requires earlier and more frequent treatment than the husk fly.

Treatments are usually $35 to $55 per application, depending on size & number of trees.

SuperGreen | Lawn Weeds | Lawn Diseases | Winterizing

Yep, it's already time to fertilize! We use a fertilizer blend that releases slowly into the soil. It may not show for about 2 weeks after our treatment, but once it does, prepare for a really green lawn. You may want to repaint the house to help match the colors better.

Routine Fertilization, Fungus Control, & Weed Control

Packages start at around $65 to $75*, and we recommend at least 4 per year. You actually need to fertilize your lawn about every 6 weeks from late winter to really late fall, but not everyone wants to see us that often.

*Obviously, it varies greatly with the size of your yard, and if you don't actually have any weeds, we won't actually charge you for that--we'll just fertilize. Go figure!

We've been diagnosing and treating lawn diseases for several decades. Whether it's red thread, fairy ring, or other fungal infections, we can help you correct the problem.

Our SuperGreen lawn treatment gives you lawns so green, your neighbors' retinas will be burned, and when you close your eyes, you'll still see green.

If you simply would like your lawn weeds taken care of, we can do that too. Prices for all lawn services start at $60, or $45 for multiple treatments per season.

If having a lawn that's healthy, green, and disease-resistant is a goal, get on our Lawn List!

Dogwood Fungus

This treatment occurs early in spring, just after leaf bud. Dogwoods are meant for cooler climates, but they can be made healthy in our area with the proper care.
